One year later…
It’s been one year since we have left our home, Malaysia. The day we got married, we became ‘homeless’ – not having a dwelling place like many people traditionally would think a married couple should have. In a way, that’s the point of getting married right… to have a place of your own and start building a family together with your loved one. At this point, Rosh will always patiently turn to me and say ‘the time will come’.
So off we came to England.
Let’s say we are blessed, with many good people we met along the way. One is definitely Rosh’s cousin Vafa, who’s welcomed us in her beautiful home in Littlemore. We spent our first year in England here in Oxford, and our first ups and downs of our marriage too (with many dinners and get-togethers with friends + boggle sessions). Despite having living alone for the past 7 years since I left my family home, I must say there’s still plenty to learn for me in the art of home-making…
Not knowing we’ll stay for as long as one year, we eventually had to move out as Vafa needed to leave to India for work.
Our new temporary place now is also awesome. Living with 4 others in an Oxford mansion not far from town, this new home has been a place we frequented over the year for Baha’i activities and social gatherings. It’s never a dull day when after work or studies, the housemates casually get together in the kitchen and catch up. Although we’re just filling the blank for a short period, we felt welcomed to this new home called Iffley Heights.
What’s next? Looks like we just have to continue the hunt for our next place of residence.
