This is what our new project is called, “Your Grandfather’s Road!
What does this phrase mean to you? Pick a Malaysian and he or she would probably be able to tell you a different connotation of that term, usually quite a funny one. :)

The Film Set

This is one of the sets for a short film production we recently produced.

It’s a 10-minutes short film directed by Manesh, TV to film director, a dear friend, who’s also the scriptwriter for this piece. Now we’re entering the online editing phase. We hope to be screening the complete film in December. Stay tune! :)

the migration

03Sep09

I’ve been toying with a new tumblr blog recently, and here it is. Mainly because I thought I have lost interest with wordpress and I have problems embedding videos. It looks great and I love how I could embed any videos and even music! The page is simple and I love how minimalistic it is. Few weeks now, I’m still contemplating if I would want to fully migrate to the new tumblr site yet. What do you think? If I do stick to wordpress, I will still need a new layout. ah..the hunt for the perfect wordpress theme begins.

On another note, Rosh and I are back in Malaysia. We have fully completed our 2 years adventure in the UK and packed our bags and left. Parts of us were definitely left behind.

We miss
1. good bread and great cheese, fast internet, 20 degrees, frisbees and park, cooking and eating at home, £3 for my favourite shampoo… the list goes on.

But of course in Malaysia, there’s the
2. nasi lemak ayam, mutton varuval, teh o ais, cheap movie tickets, cheap hair cut and dental, pingpongfutsalbasketball, driving…

Why would someone do this? Well… I don’t know, but just the quest to try something makes one hooked no matter how silly it is. It’s the challenge I guess or as I was told “fun”. So obviously I got hooked as it was hard to get the search count down to the hundreds initially, then the challenge was to get it down to double digits, then all of a sudden I find myself looking for that exclusive ONE hit on google.

Well, I am glad to say, that I managed to find my word with one hit, it was chemiluminescent rafflesia… !
I thought that is a pretty decent believable word. So hopefully the next time someone tries to use this word for google whack, there would be TWO hits.

if you search Orchidelirium Chemiluminescence however, which could mean the hobby of growing luminescent orchids (who knows?), you will get your very own Google Whack (hopefully).

don’t waste your time though. Many other things to do or see on the web like this or this which are on top of my head.

Devon’s music has always sent chills, I recall the first time I heard “Armed” and was so convinced that I’ve got to get a dear friend of mine to sing it at our wedding. And to see him perform live was also an amazing experience. Looking forward to his new album.

Reflecting on The Prosperity of Humankind:

At the heart of the discussion of a strategy of social and economic development, therefore, lies the issue of human rights. The shaping of such a strategy calls for the promotion of human rights to be freed from the grip of the false dichotomies that have for so long held it hostage. Concern that each human being should enjoy the freedom of thought and action conducive to his or her personal growth does not justify devotion to the cult of individualism that so deeply corrupts many areas of contemporary life. Nor does concern to ensure the welfare of society as a whole require a deification of the state as the supposed source of humanity’s well-being. Far otherwise: the history of the present century shows all too clearly that such ideologies and the partisan agendas to which they give rise have been themselves the principal enemies of the interests they purport to serve. Only in a consultative framework made possible by the consciousness of the organic unity of humankind can all aspects of the concern for human rights find legitimate and creative expression.

Much is needed to reflect upon today’s framework of human rights and how a consultative structure is required in championing the rights for humankind as a whole.
